Climate chamber at AREI Stende Research Center

SIA “TERMOLAT” has constructed a Climate Chamber with Cooling and Heating Functions, which includes the following equipment and automation solutions to ensure a uniform selected temperature, humidity, and lighting within the climate chamber:

• Climate Chamber condensate drainage;
• Climate control unit;
• Automatic climate management system;
• Humidification system;
• Ventilation system;
• Flooding shelf system with an integrated LED lighting system.

The Climate Chamber will allow for the vernalization process of winter wheat and barley, which will significantly accelerate the selection process. It will be possible to obtain several plant generations in a time period that is 2–3 years shorter. This, in turn, will create opportunities to:

• More effectively perform hybrid research and development,
• Model plant development under controlled conditions,
• Increase research capacity in the greenhouse facility.

This project is aimed at the development of sustainable agriculture and innovative solutions, promoting scientifically based plant breeding techniques.
